gas drip
03/22/10 at 19:49:58

I recently discovered gas dripping from the "handle" of the petcock.  I had recently disassembled and cleaned said petcock.  I rode the bike with no problems then 2 days later, drip.  I moved the bike outside and the drip seemed to stop.  Now I can't find any drips but there is a strong odor of gas.   I can't find any anywhere but if you leave the bike in the garage overnight it is overwhelming.  Also, I just filled the tank when I rode last Thursday.  Any input or ideas.  Where is it coming from?

can be from the mounting bolt seals, 2 fiber washers.
or dirt between the petcock and tank.
or from the handle, there's an oring in the handle.  If you took it apart, could've scratched going back in.

when you put it back on use a open ended spanner  a screwdriver doesn't do the bolts tight enough.
