A Find :)

Guess what  happened this morning as I was going through the woods on my way to grandma's house...er my old house ?
I got a call from a dude who had posted an '86 Savage w/ 17k on Craigslist and he was ready to sell.  I looked; old of course but all the metal was straight; tires had tread but the rubber is kind of old and they were almost flat; some rust here and there as expected; belt broken; no rubber carb tube; but it did start and run

The young dude, Justin, was asking $450 or b/o; I threw down $300 and left with bike & title.
Yep, it is a good way to start the day.

It needs new cables/brake line, carb rebuild, new rubber front & back, forks serviced and likely new seals, breake rebuild & new pads/shoes, and probably  new light bulbs.  Fortunately I have all the stuff but the front tire.
Forgot to mention that with the belt broken it will need ... new sprockets and a chain.  Got um.   Wink

The stable now has 3 LS650's in it.

How's this project dubbed? Rex II? T-Rex? Velociraptor?

Congrats on starting your day out great!
Sounds like a fun project with little needed but some time with the bike and a radio playing in the background.

Well, I didn't find a complete bike for $300 yesterday, but I did score a sportster king tank for the Savage and a near new set of 9 spoke mags for the harley, all for $300. Somehow I think Lancer got the better deal

Did you get REx all straightened out? Are you gonna be stealing stuff off this one or building it up? Or, am I wrong, thinking it was Rex that got smacked in a parking lot? I know someone got a bike smacked, but, Im fuzzy on the details.
Anyway, Congrats.
