Hey guys, I'm "upping" this thread (that is, I'm reviving it) because I just found this HD tank on Italian eBay

It claims to be from a 2000-2003 softtail, no fuel caps, no petcock (but I can buy those new at the dealership)

The point is, will anybody know if it fits ?
How much adapting will it require ?

I also recall I will need a much longer speedo cable to reposition the speedo to the bars...

Jack_650 has a softail tank on his. He will be the one to tell you what is necessary for it to fit.

For the speedo cable, get a tach cable for Suzuki GT750. It is a direct swap and is long enough for the speedometer reposition.

Well, I lost this one out  Embarrassed but gained this one at half price  Cheesy

WITH GAS CAPS TOO !!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy (no petcock, but who cares, I can buy that)

OK, now the question:
I have looked underneath and understand I must grind/cut a lot of unnecessary stuff, AND make the two "C" brackets as we have on out Savage tanks.
Whichever bodyshop will respray the tank will have to do that too.
(I also have to fabricate an adapter for the frame bolts under the front seat, because Savages have a 2-bolt bracket and the HD tank has a 1 hole bracket)
(I also have to reposition the speedo because the tank is a 4, maybe 4.5 gal tank - yoohoo!!! - and no waste of gasoline storage space for the speedo)

Any suggestions please ?
Cool
