Windshield Cleaning/Polishing

I did a search, and did not find much, so I thought I'd ask.  For those of you who use a windshield, what products have you used to clean or polish out small scratches or hazing?  When you look on the web, you find all kinds of products that say "Best ever"  or "This is the only product that will work", and then "Don't use that, use only this".   I bought a used Plexistar 2, and want to get it as clean as  possible before I mount it.  I have read that I should not use anything with ammonia, but I'm looking for some real world experience rather than advertising hype.

Most windshields have a clear coating on them so theres not must you can do but keep a polish  on them,Over time the coating can peel of some.

In addition to ammonia, alcohol is an ingredient to stay away from.

I use Windex wipes to clean my windshield... doesn't that have ammonia??  Oops!

I have a couple scratches on my face shield and it seems I read a post here about buffing out scratches, but I didn't try it.  Maybe search for posts about face shields in addition to windshields and you might find more info.

Some of the Windex wipes are ammonia-free.  Read the package.

I've used metal polish to remove scratches and haze.

I've used Meguire's PlastiX, works good. Works for CD's and helmet visors too. Wink
