No, this testiness happens ever year about this time ..... spring fever is gonna get grip on a whole bunch of us around this point in time.

Me. I'm sick of being inside.  I am also fighting being testy too, so I post less (and pull more after reading them the next day).

Verslagen, I probably merited your comment to Burn more than he did so I'll take my share of it to heart -- we should intentionally try to see the positive side of things 'round here and not focus on the negative.

See, I'm gonna try to be little suzie sunshine for the rest of this spring fever season.

============

Hey, and try to be aware of all the newbies, guys.

Here we are, all grumpy from being inside during the nasty tag end of a hard winter and here comes another crop of new persons with newbie perceptions on old problems, so we kinda naturally want to grump at them a bit since they "volunteered" for it ....

Self-control, and perception -- always something to be a'working on.

============

And yeah, I likely was the one that put Verslagen's panties in a bunch for saying a negativity or three so yeah, he has a reason to be like that.

It's grump season and he don't understand why we are being so all fired negative right now.

I don't speak for Verslagen, and I am sorry if I am out of turn, but as I read this string the man was trying to help the rest of us.
I read the post here to learn what "can" be done.
We all know many of the things that we can do, and some that we must do, to make our bikes run like they should.
If anyone has another trick...I want to hear it. To say "We already have a fix for that" misses the point.  I come here to learn from the rest of you, so keep up the good work!

No, I'll take trashcan races, winner gets to pull the looser, monkeys flip for driver.

Sorry for being testy, I was really taken aback for trying return the bike to OEM status.

My 2 cents of what I thought .....?
Versl was trying to help
Burn wasn't all that serious in what he said.
Versl's grouchy remark was a little uncalled for......
Burn's reply to that could have said the same thing in a nicer way.

But,......all I really know is that I would do all I could to keep that valve, as long as it was affordable.

I for one have a hard time remembering to turn it off and take the keys after a long day. How am I going to remember to turn off the fuel?

My Raptor's been on for nearly a year,... I never turn it off, except to remove the tank or do carb work...
All my other bikes had manual petcocks and I never shut them off either...
You could potentially have a problem,...but I never did...

It's about as likely as having your vacuum operated petcock go bad, and has the same result...
Oh,... wait,.. I did have that happen,... twice.... Huh
...on two different Savages.... Huh

Now,..

Yep.

It all boils down to, "How lucky do you feel?"

I've used up about all of my allotted luck over the years and need to stack as many of the odds in my favor as I can these days!

I try to remember to shut my Raptor petcock off at the end of the day.

a decent fuel filter should stop the valve from sticking shouldn't it?

Got a reply from the seller in canada.

DIA-0 is the one you want. You can find it here:

http://www.siriusconinc.com/pro-detail.php?pid=&product_id=1525

Shipping is resonable, $5 flat rate for small stuff.

order a air cut off valve, carb kit and petcock kit and getrshipped for $5.

Picture is a little iffy, I'd wait till the other guy chimes in.

The other guy replied too.

http://www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=1507

Hole center to center is 26.8mm or 1.055"  close enough

Hole diameter is 4.31mm or 0.170" close enough

The O-ring on the end is 7.55mm or 0.297" 7.49 close enough

To the end of the plunger is 11.82mm or 0.466" overall plunger length 16.64mm

From rubber diaphragm to tip of plunger on the O-ring side 12.0mm, so roughly 4mm sticking out other side.

The body of the plunger is 10mm or 0.394" 9.97 close enough

The diaphram measures 36.4mm or 1.433" square. 37.28

$18 for the kit $6 shipping

Doesn't look like he sells just the diaphram, but most likely you need the whole kit anyway.

Verslagen,
Check the LS650 diaphram before you buy.   If I recall correctly, it doesn't have the big metal washer on the one side like the GS diaphram does.
