There was a thread on here about adding an inexpensive digital tach. I bought one and installed it. If I remember it costs about 30.00 and is a snap to install. Just one wire to ground and one wrapped around the plug wire. It is not extremely responsive. The add said its ok for knowing your gear, but not fast enough for racing.

I'm gonna combine a couple previous posts for my response:
Bar mounted speedometer, which would give more fuel capacity.
Either a taller 5th gear, or better yet a 6th. It just seems to me there's not a whole lot of jump between 4th and 5th; at least not as much as there could be. Huh

A tach would be cool, but most of the more expensive cruisers I've looked at don't come with them either, so meh... Roll Eyes

Bill, since you seem to have so many complaints about the S40's lack of a "high gear", I'm surprised you don't do something about it. There are threads for converting to chain drive which would allow you to select any high gear you want. Or of course, you could get rid of the "problem" altogether by just getting rid of the bike. Remember, YOU are the one who picked it out in the first place. If YOU didn't do the research, YOU have no one to blame but YOURSELF.
