Whats Missing on the s-40 ?

Every time I ride, I'm missing the same thing on this bike. I was told I'd get used to it, but I can't,.... after 6 months/2k miles, I still miss it. Am I the only one ? What one thing do you miss,....or would you like to add on your Savage/s40,......if you already haven't.
Fill a page, then I'll come back and see if any.....or how many agree.

Serious answers only, nothing like.....a supercharger, or a wild woman !

I miss going 150 miles without finding a gas station
I miss changing spark plugs without pulling the seat and tank
I miss the freeway stability of a larger bike
But - I would not trade it for anything currently on the market
I don't miss adjusting the drive chain and oil splatters on the rear wheel
I don't miss the unreliability of old Brittish bikes
I don't miss the top heavy feel of 4 cylinder Japanese bikes.
I don't miss vibration that makes looking in the mirrors fuzzy.
The S40 is a keeper

Speedo on the handlebars... naw I fixed that. and a tach, a gear indicator and a tank gage too. Better shocks... naw fixed that too. I know, I know, a reliable petcock.

So changing the Primary drive , but is their another basket and drive that will work ?

Reply #8 - 03/03/10 at 03:31:57 Tripmeter, bar mounted speedo (which would give tank more fuel capacity) ... those are the 2 main things I'd get Suzuki to change ... a regular On-Off-Res petc0ck would even further simplify an already simple Bike too, so that'd be nice as well ...

As far as gearing, I would like a lower low gear. Despite some kvetching about how fast the engine turns at highway speed, it is right in the middle range of lots of bikes.

Thanks for the responses,....very interesting.

If I were to list 2, Jabman hit my nail right on the head, and in his order too !
A fuel gage would be nice, but I kinda remedied that w/ the resettable digital bicycle trip meter, which works good.

But the number 1 thing that I miss the most is a tachometer.
I ride in nothing but hills here,....even interstate 5 near here is anything but flat, and I do a lot of uneccessary shifting only to find out I'm not in the gear I thought I was. I have tried to get used to the sound of the r's in the upper gears, but it doesn't work for me.

I did a search on "tachometer".......nothing !
Maybe someone could list a couple that guaranteed work on these bikes ? I know I've seen them here before.
