Reply #15 - 02/25/10 at 18:19:38 All I know is I get about 250 miles per tank, but then I have a six gallon road king tank that is tilted just a bit higher in the front so I usually only get about five to five and half gallons in it from bone dry.

I ride city streets, 3.5 miles to work, two stop signs, twelve traffic lights, mostly red, 20 mph average speed. Half the time I am not moving. Back home is 3.7 miles, thirteen lights, no stop signs. What they sell in California in lieu of gasoline gives 5%-10% less miles per gallon than the real gasoline sold in the other 49 States.

I get 40-45 mpg city.

On tour, doing 65-70 mph, I got 60 mpg California, 65 mpg elsewhere. Over 70 mpg from Parker AZ to Palm Springs CA at 50-55 mph.

My '03 Savage routinely got 50-55mpg with mostly around town Riding ... 60-65mpg on some of our unobstucted coastal biways at speeds between 50-80 kph (30-50ish mph) ... she had stock factory set-up, no mods. My current '05 S40 appears to not quite as fuel efficient, but then again, I have the air/fuel mixture screw turned to richen 'er up a little ...

Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure you are not, in fact, just surrounded by arseholes!

Reply #18 - 02/26/10 at 05:14:50 I'm in the 50-55 range and always have been for the almost 9 years I've had the bike. Seemed to have a spike in mpg when I shaved the white spacer to 2/3. About that same time I did some mountain riding at the Dragon and the Skyway and my mileage soared to 65+ mpg, but it's never done that well again.

get about 50 - 55 mpg on average. gotta remember it's a 650cc not a 200cc. The best gas milage I ever got was from a chinese bike, Lifan 200cc dual sport. Got 106 to 112 miles per gallon. But the seat would kill my butt after 20 min. and doing 60mph on thin nobby tires is scary enough, thats why I got my s40, more power, more comfortable and still better gas milage than my C50.

Reply #21 - 02/26/10 at 16:52:57 55 mpg on a good day cruising at 50 on back roads, once I hit the superslab or get into traffic I drop down around 45 mpg. I will ride in traffic using 3rd gear just so I have some better engine braking. It burns a lot of gas but I can stay out of the cagers way a lot easier. They can hear me coming
