A handy thing I learned from owning two Russian motorcycles, is to have a heavy duty switch, (think 30 amps or better) in the ground cable from the battery. This does several things. One, it is a quick disconnect of all electrical systems in the machine when working on something. Two, when the bike sits unused for a period of time, open this switch and there will be no battery draw down by any of the bikes systems. Three, it make theft more difficult by hot wire trolls. Both Dnepr and Urals come with this feature from the factory. Not because they are smart but because the Ural electrics frequently go faulty and drain the battery overnight. If you do not want a switch, you might consider a quick disconnect plug.
