rl153 Serious Thumper Offline S40 Just right! Posts: 906 Bloomfield,CT Gender:	Battery 02/04/10 at 10:54:37 I had my battery on a float charger for a couple months. It read 12.9 volts,right off the charger . After the discussion here ,I removed it from the charger and it read 12.6 volts the next day .Now a week later off the charger ,it reads 12.1 volts .Is this a normal drop ,or an indication of a defect? Thanks.

Yes it does. you don't want to contaminate the battery with minerals.

Also when you measure a batteries length ,does that include the vent tube?

Leaving a battery on a quality float charger 365 days a year will not only NOT hurt a battery,......its service life will normally be somewhat longer Water ?? Distilled water is better of course, but remember, in a pinch any water is better than no water !

Is the battery still in the bike? Could be normal drop-off depending on the age of the battery. How old is it? I have a similar conditon with a Yuasa in a Honda Rebel and it still is ok.
