Did you weld those up, or did they come that way?

Those shafts are usually pretty hard.

Becarefull, they may have lost their temper.

Very interesting -- not stupid.  The wider surface should be more comfortable on a long ride.  And the "spin" means they rock to accommodate any foot angle.

I stress tested them by jumping up and down like an idiot on them... they seem quite solid... Welded by an artist friend...

Vman - I agree totally with you if they were high quality pedals.  Having fixed a friends cheapey bike I can tell you the cheap stuff is soft as can be. We even did a trail side pedal and crank straighten with our hands! I am guessing these are a lot more like mild steel than you and I were used to on our bikes as kids.

Serowbot - good job they look great!

Are they comfortable?  Did you take the bike for a "spin"?   Cheesy

The spindles are cro-mo steel... but, I did jump up and down on them , to test for strength...

Took a short test ride, and they are very comfortable, but do have a fraction more vibes... the variable foot angle is neat, and may help comfort on longer rides...

The stockers are hard to beat for vibe reduction, they have an air cushion under the footpad... but, I think these are less vibey than aftermarket "o-ring" pegs or footboards...

Mostly,... I wanted a unique, old school look...
