Has anyone polished them or chromed them even ?

Was considering doing this instead of spraying them.

polished, yes
there's a clear coat on them, remove first.
aircraft stripper works great, least painful
then you'll only need to repolish the areas where the corrosion ate thru the clear coat.

You mean side covers or the tins? Im thinking you mean tins, air cleaner cover & the other side. You could strip, polish & clearcoat.

Chromed mine and they look great. A little costly but some bling is worth it.
