Electrical connector

Quick question about connectors.
I picked up a throttle assembly from an '05-later model bike and the connector has more pins than my '96; I am assuming that it is for the added feature of the emergency blinkers.
Question is, is this just a matter of removing a pin or are there other wiring changes that would be needed ?

Can you look at the bike end of the connector & compare to the throttle end & see if a couple of pins go to blank spots on the bike end? If so, maybe you can just plug it in & not worry about it?

Orr,, use an Ohm meter & see where the connector wires run now?

Does the connector you are referring too, look like this? This is on my 2000 wiring harness. I traced this connector to the harness that goes to the turn sigs and high beam switches.

Bobbert and I just went through this comparing my 2000 harness to his '96. His does not have this plug while mine does.
