Im toying with the idea of buying this:
Its a bottom mounted light as you can see.
Question is do you think this could be easily mounted on the exsisting mounting ?

I think you will need to drill a mounting hole in the tree to get it to fit. I put a simular light on my '02 and had to drilla hole to get it to work. You will need a heavy washer or a piece of flat stock on the bottom to bridge a gap cast into the underside of the tree.

You can make a small flat triangular tab, two holes back to mount to the stock headlight mounting bolts, one forward to take the new headlight:
Or you can build a little box, two holes down to match the bike, one up to match the light:
