Gort, how did you bolt it on there??????

I didn't want to clog up this site with detailed instructions, so another member offered to put them on his server, here:

http://www.richard-perry.com/HDSeat/HDPoliceSeatConversion.html

NOTE:  I HAVE SINCE CUT THE SEAT SPRINGS IN HALF, THUS REDUCING THEIR HEIGHT BY 50%.  This lowered the seat a lot, and gave a better center of gravity, while not affecting comfort.

Pic with lowered springs.  Yes, its a big seat because its off a Harley Police bike. But let me tell you, I can ride all day in comfort.  Like I said, Function before Form.

Hi Babyhog,

How about I send it to you and if you can use it, send me $15.00? If you can't, donate it to someone else who needs one.  Smiley

That seat has to be really comfortable.

I was the first on this site to install a springer seat, and gave detailed step by step instructions as to how to do it, if someone wanted to be bothered.  After I posted this, others installed variations of springer seats on their bikes. One of those commented that my design "looks like crap". My design was built for ultimate comfort, not looks. It makes absolutely no difference to me what someone else thinks of my bike. I modified it to serve me, not stoke my ego by trying to impress other people.  Function before form.

wrong i did the seat long before you joined, i just never put up instructrions becuse it's changed several times.  winter 05 was the first version.  i don't say i don;'t like it to other peoples mods. it's just nont nice.  there have been a few machines i would ride but i wont saw which ones becase they put time and effert into the build.

ya mean something liike this?  quite easy i must admit  40 dollar seat 30 handlebars online, chrome fenders from old susuki

all it takes is a little imagination and no fear about tearing things apart enjoy   this shoot made it into the jan issue of the ama mag page 21,

i actually made money on the stock parts when i sold them

 That seat looks like crap

so  why do you think it looks like crap,m is it the way the seat melds into the lines of the machine. or maybe the front springs that make the ride as smooth as it come.  AMA magazine liked those things so they showed it in last Jan. issue, have you ever had that honor,  no,  i didn't think so,   it is brown so maybe that's what yer refering town.

i've found those that can't mod, pregnant dog about others.

No you don't have to, just lift the back of the bike up and you can get to the bolts.

Greyhead, if you are only looking to take as much of the sissybar off as I show in this picture, I did it while the bike was just sitting there. I forget what wrenches I used, but it wasn't a big problem.  I remember having to play with it, but no big deal.
