reusing tubes?

Thinking about replacement tires (Pirelli RT66). Do Tubes and rim strips need to replaced also or can the old ones still be used?

Its a judgement call. Many people change the tubes tires and rim strips at the same time. Some just leave the strip and change tubes and tires. Some just change tires.

I would replace it if it was a year old, especially if you expected to have it on the bike for more than a year.

I used to reuse, on my dirt bike... but, once a tube has spent time under pressure, it has stretched, and is more likely to re-inflate  pinched or twisted...
best to get new... Wink

I concur.  But I have used, and am currently using, two old tubes.  One is holding up well, the other has slow leak.

after my last expirence i would say go with a NEW one

i decided to reuse mine and it ended up getting a small hole close to the stem somewhere.  ended up taking the rear wheel to a shop after all the swearing and frustration.

never underestimate the tire iron!

At Dennis Kirk:
Kenda Rim Strips, Part# 535195 & Part# 535198 -- $1.50 each.
IRC Inner Tubes, Part# 54143 & Part# 535379 -- $9.99 & 10.99

Is peace of mind worth $24.98 plus shipping?

Thanks all...I suppose I'll get new...being an old bicycle mechanic we would always reuse but bicycle tires are much easier to remove and reseat if you screw up.

I would always replace the tube.
Rim strips, you can but I like to replace them with duct tape, stop laughing at me Grin
Duck tape will keep moisture from getting in around the spoke nipples so you have less rusting inside the rim. Out of the sunlight it will last for years yet pull right off if you need to adjust spokes. It will never move out of place like the rubber ones can.
Please note most of this was on enduro bikes rode hard in muddy locations, but it has worked well for me on many road bikes as well.

Theres a tape out there, Somewhere, almost like duct tape, same width, but stretchier, almost like electrical tape. A guy did the rear rim with that first time I had a tire changed. I wish I had me some O that stuff..
