So I got a new bike but it's a Boulevard...

My '95 Savage died on me a few weeks ago. It's kinda ok though because I bought her outta someone's yard for 400$ so I could learn to ride. She lost power on the freeway and then her engine started to smoke and smell of burned rubber. :'( She was a great bike. I am still thinking about getting her fixed because a girl friend wants to buy her from me.
Over the weekend though, I was lucky enough to find a GREAT deal on a new(ish) Suzuki but they call it a Boulevard. She's so similar to my Savage, I really like her.
What are the main differences that I should look out for? I've already noticed that the turn signals are different - in a good way. Amazingly enough though, the '07 doesn't have as much power as my '95 did. Any guesses on why that would be? The Savage did have a different exhaust... louder.

'05 and newer Boulevard S40 and the '04 and earlier Suzuki Savage are still LS650's ... essentially the SAME Bike, just differently tagged ... minor cosmetic differences, same motor and frame ...

Just think of it as the same bike but with a little makeover.

Less power..... best guess is that your Savage was "tweaked" and the Blvd is at the stock carb setting of being very lean.
Running lean prevents certain types of pollution, but causes other issues, some of which can lead to more pollution. It makes the bike run hotter (higher temp) which in the long run isn't good for an air cooled bike.

2005 ... '05 & newer = S40 ... '04 & earlier = Savage ... not that it makes much diff!

The sissybar is an option on the Boulevard. That means you have to swap the rails on the rear fenders, too. It also means you have to get the sissybar to mount the Suzuki luggage rack.
And the Boulevard has "drag" style handlebars on risers.
Otherwise, what everyone else said!

Thanks guys! So far I'm liking her a lot. I just am more used to the curved handlebars, more power and loud exhaust! lol Really though, my new girl is a jewel. I'm still thinking up a perfect name for her... I'm thinking, Bailey the Boulevard.
