Thers nothing wrong with walking into an auto paint supply house & asking a salesman what kind of paint would be likely to stick to an aluminum engine. Aluminum requires a different primer, or Did, 25+ years ago, when I was doing bodywork. It was greenish, IIRC, pretty odd looking stuff..Lots of progress in paints tho, so maybe now its different.

Since you claim to be into the "rat-bike" look, it would be easier to just remove the covers. That would make spark plug access easier, too. The covers are purely decorative.

i was thinking that, but i left my front fender on, if that comes off then i'll take the head covers off too.....

i was actually surprised how nice they came out, since i accidentally sprayed clear on them when i was finishing the tank lol

'95 bobber rat...i guess it's a "bat bike" haha flat black mostly, bare metal tank, header wrap, always a work in progress !
