Tires and bars
11/19/09 at 12:21:08
Can I match any front and rear tire, or do I need to buy both at one time for a matched set? Also how tall a riser do I need to replace the old 1987 handlebar with the newer bars to clear the tank. Will I need straight or pull back? I am only 5'8" and dont want the felling of reaching for the bars. Thanks

A 90/90-19 on the front instead of the stock 100/90-19 really smartens up the steering!

A fork brace will help the handling a lot.

Can you say more about your experience with the smaller front tire?

I've had smaller front tires on bikes before it quickens steering and makes less stable I don't think the s40 needs that.

I have the stock 100/90 on my S40, but a pal of mine has the 90/90 on his Savage and I've Ridden that ... as pointed out it quickens the steering ... front end doesn't feel as "dead"; was snappier in the turns ... didn't feel like the (slightly) smaller tire hurt the stability though ... it felt perfectly fine to me! The 90/90 is common on Sportsters and when time comes to replace my front hoop, I'm going with the 90/90 ...
