It is still there.  The Suzuki website is still showing the 2009 lineup and includes the S40.
2010 lineup is not shown yet.

That link points to the 2009 model. A web search using 2010, S40, and Suzuki led to a picture that looks like the 2009 colors and information with price as "TBA", so it looks possible. Personally, I think the S40's days are numbered because of ever-tightening EPA standards. Especially with the economy as it is, I doubt Suzuki will spend the required money and time to fuel-inject the S40. Also personally, I doubt I'll ever consider purchase of another carbureted motorcycle.

I have a FI SV1K I dont see the big deal. Maybe it gets better gas mileage. However, maybe not because of the FI. The thing does get mid 40's in highway and high 30's city. But my virago was high 30's and its heavier, 1100 cc vs 1000, air cooled and old ass tech. Yea yea ... 2 valve vs 4 and high performance and higher gas mileage ... fine ... I am still on the fence though.
Cool.

The "totalmotorcycle" link seems to come up with the same picture as the earlier link. It, too, shows the 2009 color schemes and the TBA price. Neither is apparently from Suzuki. In years past, Suzuki has changed the color scheme each year (I think) on the Savage/S40, and based on that history I would expect a new color for 2010 - if there is a 2010 model.

The new 2010 'zuki models will be out in Feb. I think??

Agree that the days for our beloved LS650's are numbered ... it will only be a matter of a year or 2 before there won't be any new carburated m/c's introduced to the North American market ... in fact, heard an unsubstantiated rumor over at Intruderalert.com, that the VS800 won't be coming back for '10 ... the VS1400 finished it's U.S. run in '08 (was available in Canada for '09 though ...)

That would be sad, I'm sure they'd introduce some retarded garbage ... like the Gay-Dius. Then when we realise its a piece of garbage with a steel frame and generally down graded components over an SV650 and that it costs more than an SV, we'd not buy it and they would blame us.
2009 is the year that garbage was sold under the guise of "new". FZ6 R ... the new and improved one over the FZ6S and the YZFR-6. FZ6R - The R stands for rust.

Some garbage could be the new savage, in the mean time I'll keep my 3 savages. Of course I am in the market for a Gaydius ... extra rust please.
Nothing ruins the resale of a bike and affects so little elsewhere like surface rust. SV650's hold up rather well ... no chance of getting one of those for 1-2K for many years ... gay-dius'es I anticipate in under 3-4 years to be @ bargain basement $.
Cool.

The 2010 S40 is listed on the Suzuki Canada site but the pictures haven't been updated yet.  You can find pictures of the 2010 S40 at Global Suzuki.

Suzuki US site doesn't show 2010 models yet.

I guess I want to know:

1: Why they advertise 63 mpg around town and I get about 50 on the highway with the hardly modified motor on my LS650?

B: Unless they're going to bump that 63 up to 90 mpg with the same performance from the same engine, why change something that's working pretty dang well?

Mileage tests are conducted using 100% gasoline -- here in the midwest we run 10% ethanol, so we never see those results.

Also, I know the EPA car figures are done on a simulator -- there's no factoring in the wind resistance or variable frictional components based on road surfaces.  Not sure about bikes, though.

I get about 60-65 mpg, the pump says the gas may contain up to 10% ethanol but I don't know if it actually does or not, I ride a combo of highway and "city" driving, my average speed is probably 55 over a 26 mile commute to and from work for a total of 52 miles
