Pilot jet problems
11/02/09 at 07:14:53
my problem is my bike is a little lean at small throttle openings
it has the stock 47.5 jet with no bleed holes. but the screw has to be out 6 turns (with an elastic band to make sure it doesn't come out)
I put a size 50 pilot in with bleed holes. and the bike stumbled and spluttered and slightly smoking at 1 turn out, so the screw has to be all the way in and then it was too rich and worse then before
ive defo not got any intake or exhaust leaks. already given it a tank with carb cleaner
what do you guys think? a 47.5 w/bleed holes? other info is in the signature

There are 2 types of pilot jets available for Mikuni's; one for CV carbs and another for VM roundslides. They both have the same threads and same length so they can be installed but will not work the same. The type made for the VM carbs will flow more fuel than the CV type. You may have the VM type #50 + holes, which would account for the rich condition.

yep lancer your right as always, the jets I have have 8 bleed holes, and this website states there for vm carbs. the other jets they have are exactly the same size but have half the number of holes and state there for cv carbs
I guess ill buy some of them then
