Where does the white spacer have the most effect?

I understand that the white spacer leans the fuel metered by the needle throughout it's range. Does the white spacer have an effect over the whole throttle range, or only on the main?
I'm thinking of the range between idle and 1/4, the pilot range. Would the white spacer have a major effect on fuel bleed from the main in that area? Surely some fuel is coming by.

Mine idled perfectly so I didn't touch the air screw
And mine showed no sign of lean running at WOT, so I didn't even think of touching the main jet, even tho I did relieve the exhaust a little.
W/o running 1 click choke all the time, it ran really ragged from just above idle to 1/4-1/3 throttle, so I attacked the spacer to 50%. That was the best guess I ever made,... it runs perfectly now, and if there is any, I don't notice any difference on WOT.
Being new to this carb, I really don't know what the pilot is or does, but what ever it does, its doing it well.
To me, trimming the white spacer does did the same thing as raising the needle clip one notch like we used to do on the bikes w/ the plunger w/ the needle clips.

That sounds like a good move. When I was running that carb I took the spacer out completely and left the jetting stock. If I was going to tune that carb further I probably would have put back a thickness of 1/3 to 1/2 spacer and gone with a richer main jet to compensate. WOT was still plenty scary, though!
I try to think of needle height as "midrange mixture" but it's not as cut-and-dry as that. That guy diamond jim even said that his main jet was having an effect on his
idle
circuit. Dammit, where'd he go? :'( So anyway the point is, these adjustments do bleed over into the other ranges somewhat.

Yeah there is an overlap with the adjustments. The white spacer goes from just over idle to about 1/3 throttle which is where the main jet starts to come into play. from 1/3 throttle up to about 2/3 the white spacer fades out and the carb starts to runs on the main jet till you get to full throttle where it is all the main jet at maybe 3/4 throttle. The pilot jet only controls the air/fuel mixture at idle and low rpms. After rejetting my carb I needed to kick up the idle rpm. I'm not sure what caused the idle to drop, I did everything at once, white spacer and main jet along with a different muffler.

From the Tech section; a basic intro into how a carb works and the overlap of the low, mid and high throttle ranges.
