Bike starts and runs, dies upon coming to a stop

So you guys have helped me out a lot already, so I thought I'd throw this out there and see what you guys think.

My bike will start and idle fine (it's an '87 so she takes a while tog et warm first) but then when I'm out riding, about every second or third time I stop for a stop sign or light she dies, then labors a little to get started again.

I am about to change the oil and add some seafoam to my next fillup, in case it is a carb problem.

Any ideas?

my lean pilot jet and low idle speed caused random stalling when stopping

Stalling for the first few miles is usually idle set too low.

Have someone (shop or a friend) check the idle RPM's.  Should be at least 1000.  I found that it you set it at the top of the recommended spec (1100...  1200??) it reduced the stalling.

Of course, the first "solution" that comes to my mind is,,, Dont Stop..
But, thats probably impractical, so, Id turn up the idle for starters.
I turn mine up a little when I first leave the house. Later, when its all warmed up, Ill need to turn it down a hair.

If this is running ok when colder and then stalling when engine is at temperature, I'm wondering about running too rich. Especially with the difficulty on restarts (flooded). Have there been mods made to the carb (white spacer, jetting)? Are you shutting the enrichener (choke) down after the engine warms up? Have there been mods made to the carb (white spacer, jetting)? Even with factory jets and adjustments, the Savage will choke out when the engine is hot.
