That pretty well sums it up. Gotta get TO them,, seat & tank come off. Gotta pull the speedo cable off the engine. Watch the O-ring. They get lost often. The vacuum line has to come off & the gas line. Some tanks come off with the petcock still installed, others,, gotta drain the tank by putting it on Prime. If youve never had the speedo squeak/rattle racket, then maybe you never will. I hope it doesnt show up in yours, its a nasty sound.You may want to be proactive & "fix" it even tho you dont have the problem yet & may never.
Changing the seat bolts to allen heads, making them longer & using a pair of jam nuts really has made pulling the seat much easier. T handled allen wrenches from Harbor Freight are just great. Cheap & high enough quality to handle everything Ive tried them on so far. Of course, the old L shaped ones are nice to keep around for the allens encountered that are just too tight & need a "cheater". While you have the tank off, might be a good time to have a look at the valves & maybe do the spark plug door mod. I wish I had done that the first time I pulled the tank. If you pull the plug to have a look, make sure to blow the accumulated dirt & crud out of the hole it sits in first, so no gritty crap falls in the engine & scratches the bore.
If youve never pulled the tank before, it would be nice if you had someone there to hold it while you rassle with the connector under it. The first time I took mine apart, it was a real bear to get the clip to let go & pull it apart.

Ohh yea. Decide where you want the tank when you get it off before you have it in your hands, hunting a place to put it.. Up on something a few inches tall to let the petcock & gas line sit up off the ground just makes me feel better. Look at how the bushings fit in the tank mount, each is a 2 part item, dont trust them to stay where they are, they wont. Anti-seize is your friend.
