Helmet Question
09/24/09 at 09:33:02

I always wear my helmet, and I have one problem with it.  In the mornings I have alot of trouble with the visor fogging over.  What works best to fix this?   Would Rain-X do it?

Probably just some anti-fog or leave the visor cracked a bit and you should be good.

Thats an easy one, Just remove the visor!  Grin

Coming from a person who doesnt like visors, i usually keep it cracked when i have to wear it.
If i liked it enough to wear it more i would get one of those anti-fog screens you can put on the visor.
Check out the thread "weather proofing bike" i remember someone mentioned some products that do what your looking for.

When I used to wear glasses the anti-fog stuff worked great.  I would clean them every day with it and never have an issue.  I would think it would work just as well on a visor.

Until you do some research. do NOT.. NOT .. NOT use Rain-X!!
I have heard horror stories of what that stuff will do to plastic.  Maybe they have a formula out now that works on plastic, but in the past it was for glass ONLY!!

I usually do as the others.. and crack the visor open.
Otherwise,  I use this stuff called.. Cat Crap.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

I'm not putting cat crap in front of my face.... Huh

All it really does is smell so bad, that you have to crack open your visor to get the smell out...  Undecided

I use a full helmet and a fog city or pro grip visor insert. its a piece of clear plastic with sticky edges that fits on the inside of your visor and gives it 'double glazing' which stops and I mean stops the visor misting up from your breath, even when fully down.  on the outside of the visor I use a anti-misting spray that helps rain form into drops and run off

I am printing all this info out, thanks a ton everyone!  I dont like to have the visor up because the wind makes my eyes water, even if I have sun glasses on.  I do crack the visor up when Im sitting still, otherwise it gets too friggin hot.

I do have a cat, hence, plenty of cat crap......

+1
I use two visors (OK three if you count the tinted one for long daytime rides when I'm travelling) one with the fog city insert and one without. This is about the time of year that I switch back to the one with.

Do Not Use Rain X.... Read the back of the label. It states not for plastic.. Always read labels if in doubt. I wear a full face helmet and glasses as well. I have used anit fog and not had great results. I crack it a little and that seems to work the best..

I'll give the liquid soap thing a try.  I hear that shaving cream would prevent fogging- it doesnt.

I apprecate the offer to spit on my visor for me, but I have a 7 year old boy that is forever spitting or spraying/rasberrying everywhere so Im good to go in the spit dept.  Must be a guy thing.....
