What do you Call Your bike?

Whether it was a regional thing or something that was done back in the days but everyone I knew back driving their muscle cars and motorcycles named them.  I haven't heard anyone talk about naming their car or motorcycle in about 15 years, so do people still to that?

Hmm let's see:

*overly sensitive to fuel mixture
*often sputters in a small aircraft sort of way
*fires like a machine gun on occasion

It can be none other than the "Sopwith Camel"  Cheesy
Note the heat shield, I got the idea from a Mossberg 590.

Would it be possible for you to post a close-up of the heat shield and provide a little description?

Thanks

When the economy improves and I stop being so cheap, I'll get the custom license plate "BOSO"

Then I'd have a boso-suzuki!

(Bosozuki "street samurai" -- mostly teens on rice rockets with straight pipes.)

Sure Gerald, my pleasure.  The heat shield is made from a 2in diameter piece of stainless pipe, drilled, sandblasted, and painted in ROCCO-APPROVED flat black  Cheesy

I cut the pipe lengthwise with a band saw so that the cross section is a "C" shape, then lined each end of the shield with about 1/8in thick copper.  The copper strips keep the shield off the pipe, and the soft metal won't damage the chrome.  I stuck the copper on with a JBweld-like compound.  There are no straps or clamps. It just takes a firm push, and the "C" shape keeps it on.

Here's the zombie blaster where I got the idea.  The shield and hole diameters are in about the same proportion, though I changed the hole pattern a little.

Hope that inspires someone to cook up their own one-off bit of bike bling.  Smiley
