I successfully removed, cleaned and rejetted my carb with the aid of Clymer's and the numerous posts and advice from this site.  I got the bike put back together today and the power is much improved and even seems to run a bit smoother.  Thanks to all here for their advice and expertise!

I left the main jet at 155 per stock for an '88 and moved up to a 50 with bleed holes on the pilot - which I got for free from a local shop.
