With very little WOT, I just got 102 on this tank, and I'm expecting to need reserve very soon on the next ride. But this is the first time I checked it. I just installed a bicycle speedo/trip meter, and it seems to be quite accurate, and it now shows 102.
I thought most are reporting 50+ mpg.

Mine is an 07

55 mpg is about right on stock bike if you behave. I'd rather grin than behave. As they say in the fine print: "Your mileage may vary."

As low as 38-40ish (rough gas pump math) in town if Im speeding around and accelerating hard. Usually closer to 45 with "normal" riding. Around 50 if I intentionally keep revs a little low. Once I hit the highway however, my mileage climbs nicely. At 65mph I get a consistant 62-63mpg and this is with SE and appropriate rejet. Not too shabby. I gotta admit though, I do miss my rebel for its mileage. On that wee thing I never got less than 60mpg and as high as 77.

Me too. I was getting between 60 and 65mpg. 120 out of a tank easy. I went just over 130 one time without hitting reserve. Depends on how I drive. Although, with the Dyna muffler and carb rejet, I have not checked my mileage. I should do so.

I'm getting around 60 with stock jetting. I have come out 3 turns on the idle jet. From past experience rejetting can affect mileage up to 25%.

In stop sign to stop sign, really flogging it, 40 MPG could happen, but youd have to TRY to get that crappy of a MPG average. If thats all youre getting & youre riding anywhere near a conservative ride, something is wrong.
Check air filter
look at spark plug
clean carb

I had always averaged between 50 and 55 mpg.  Now with 2/3 white spacer, Sportster muffler, K&N air filter, and 1 1/2 turns out on the pilot air screw, I'm easily getting 60 - 65.  Interestingly, if I ride between 65 and 70 mph on the Interstate, it seems to go back down to the 50s range.

I'm averaging around 55mpg (us gallon) all stock with a combination of city/hwy runs. Hwy is typically 65mph.

I'm averaging 58.6 on 06 S40 who's only mod is a Suzuki windscreen.  I can get low 60's if I stay off the interstate and usually get 55-57 on my commute loop with is about 80% surface streets and 20% interstate.

I've also noticed that 10% Ethanol gas is pretty much guarantee of mileage in the 50s.  You may want to check if you're buying 100% gas or not.
