Well, I was finally able to get a 200 mile ride on the new seat (211.4 miles actually). So, here is the report. I was constantly aware of the seat for about the first 20 miles, as I was paying attention to how it felt. After that, I was completely unconscious of it for the rest of the ride. I stopped for lunch, and twice for gas (didn't get off the bike to gas.) Since it is not even broken in yet (Corbin seats are like Birkenstock sandals. They keep getting better the longer you have them.)
A small matter that I noticed yesterday, after going over a particularly bad stretch of with a couple of killer bumps. The seat seams to absorb a lot of the punishment that comes from bumps. This may be due to the high density foam. It doesn't eliminate the bumps, but it does soften them. I hit a couple of bumps that would have normally sent a shock wave up my spine. I still felt the bumps, but not the shock wave.
Finally, I was sorry to hear that Marine5317 had problems installing his seat. I know how frustrating it is to fight with something that doesn't fit.
I have to say that it only took me about ten minutes to install mine, and most of that time was taken up removing the lift that I had put on the front of the seat.
This is my sixth or seventh Corbin seat over the years, and one thing that I have learned is that the first couple of times that you put the seat on, you really have to make sure that the nose of the pan is properly seated. The base pans are so stiff compared to the plastics that come on most stock seats, that if the nose isn't all the way forward, the mounts will not line up, and you can't bend the base pan to get them to line up. So, give the back of the seat a couple of good thumps to get it all the way forward, and then things should go smoothly.
All in all, I am very happy with this seat. The only thing that Corbin could have done to make me happier, is to build a solo seat. (If they ever do, I will buy one and put this seat up for sale here on the site.)
