One more question. I have the seat off right now and I am seriously considering making the mod. How does it make it sit better? I have lifted the front up 1 1/2" and it helps. I've heard there's a place just across the line in Murphy that will mod the seat and add 2" of memory foam for $100.00. Any ideas on any of this.

I think that it works because it lets the foam compress down farther where the pan is cut out. That is just a guess. All I know is that once I cut that small piece of base pan out, I never had a sore tail bone again.

Quick, free, and it works. What more could you ask for? Besides, if later you want to have more foam added to the top of the seat, no problem.

How would you go about cutting in the middle of the plastic; between the black rubber and the shiny rectangular piece? I don't have a lot of tools and I don't think tin snips would work there. Here's the other side just in case.

That is a hard call. As for where to cut, I would say just between the two bolts that hold on the strap. One approach might be to use a small drill and drill out a square in the desires spot, and then use some sort of cutting file or saw to cut between the holes. Just a thought. Almost everyone on this site is handier with their hands than I am.

Sorry, I'm new to mechanics.

Bill must know how to sharpen drills.
You can use a drill stop or wrap several layers of tape around the drill to prevent it from going all the way thru.
Personally, I'd use a dremel with a router bit.

Or, he cut the drill bit off so only a little poked out of the chuck & left the factory tip on it, cutting the shank off & just keeping a length of the flutes to chuck up on.
