I was just browsing thru the Clymer book and I need some comments from those who have removed the side cover over the alternator. The book says to drain the oil before working on the alternator? It would be the first time that I have ever seen a wet alternator !!! Is that the case??? Gene

Get used to it, a great many bikes have oil splashed electrics under their alternator side covers.
