Ok, we have lift off. We ended up just going through the carb and cleaning things up. Every orffice with clogged with crap. ...no wonder it wouldn't start!!...
So a few things.
First off, I set the petcock to PRI to let some fuel get to the carb. I walked away for about 30 seconds...upon returning I noticed fuel dripping EVERYWHERE. I guess I didn't expect PRI to flow THAT much fuel. I didn't have the boot connecting the carb to the air box/snorkel thing on, so fuel was just flowing right out of the inlet I think. Is this normal? ...or did we put the float on upside down? When set to "ON" it doesn't appear to be overflowing.
Ok, so now that she's running (fires up REAL easy EVERY time now), I decided to check the clutch. Grabbed the clutch...shifted to first...STALL. Tried it again...STALL. The clutch lever felt a little soft so I tightened the cable...again...STALL. The clutch cable is now all the way tight and the lever feels nice and firm, but it doesn't seem to be engaging the clutch. I tried shifting to 2nd and get a nice grind and stall.
The previous owner mentioned it needed an oil change, so I'm going to start there first. I can never remember how motorcycles work when it comes to transmissions/clutches...is there any fluid I need to change in there that could benefit me? How hard is a clutch swap? I'm not afraid to try!
Thanks guys!
