turn signal project

Gonna rain for the next two darn days here in St. Louis so I figured this would be a good time to do a project I’ve wanted to do on my ’07. I want to take off the stock turn signals, pivot the holder around the fork tubes 90 degrees and use the opening in the holder (now facing to the front) and install some small bulbs recessed inside as turn signals. Then I’ll find an amber lens cover to install. First question; how do I get the rubber cone off once I’ve removed the fake chrome turn signal housing?

Will they be bright enough so a driver that cares just a little bit can see you?

Again, can anyone help with this? Is there an easy way to get the rubber cone off that sits under the turn signal without cutting it?

If I understand your plans, the wires run through the rubber things.  You will have to take the eires completely out, then it is just a matter of a screw or two.  But that is off the top of my head.

I think it's held on by a little screw on the inside of the mount.

I'm looking at going with a set of these:

The site is: http://www.ledbikelights.net/products.htm

If you order, let him know that I (SimonTuffGuy) sent you. He's a member over on another forum that I'm on. I'm going to order the tail light/turn signal combo for my fender, those signals, and a license plate light from him shortly.

I have been eyeing the LED lights myself, but I had already bought a pair of turn signals to replace my broken stockers.  I cut a piece of aluminum angle and bolted it crossways above the license plate.  Not the prettiest job in the world, but it worked.  just need some extra $ to get the LEDS.
