I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. Everything is pointing to the solenoid. Is there a test for this? (jumping the starter like my old chevy)? Is there a reference with pics somewhere?

You can jump the solenoid with a screw driver. I've found two bad solenoids using this method. You can also jump the starter as well with a hot from a jumper box, but the screw driver method is much easier and safer. Just touch both terminals with the metal; if it turns over you found your problem.
