I probably should have done what you did, but elected instead to position it right where it needed to be, and didn't look back, just put the seat back on so I wouldn't see the leather strap going over the top of the rectifier. So far after 600 miles, so good. The way I'm figuring, is that the rectifier gets hot only when the charging system is working hard. So, if the battery doesn't get run down, it should not heat up much,.......or I'm hoping it won't, anyways.
