08/29/09 at 06:12:01

Installed a nerly new coil yesturday, bike ran great all day, went to work for night shift, the bike would not fire this morning, and rant the battery dead trying to start it. It started to fire once or twice but stalled imediatly. then i could get nothing just cranks till the battery died, problem is now its stuck at work, lol. I brought the batt home and its on a 1.5amp trickle charge for the day till tonight. Any thoughts on what may have happened?

Don't know the original cause,... but if you've been cranking for quite a while, put in a new spark plug and squirt a teaspoon of oil down into the plug hole.  Too much cranking without fire can wash the oil off the cylinder walls and leave you without compression...

Also check that the de-comp solenoid is working,...without that it won't start.

I doubt that's an issue, if it's not adjusted properly, half the time it won't turn over as it will come up against the compression stroke and stop.  If it's had time enough to build up momentum, it'll go thru the compression stroke w/o stopping.

Gas, Air, Fire, if you got those it should run.
Start with what ever you worked on 1st.
double check connections and operation.
You had the tank off, check that there isn't a loose connection.
for some reason, electrons, smallest things we ever use, don't like running thru a wire that's been squeezed.

If you changed the coil, you must have already had a problem before this ?? Could the new/used coil be bad ?
