I raised the front of my seat, much like was described.  After about a 45 minute ride, I was hating it.  So I changed it back (that is one great thing about this mod!).  Later I added Ed L's forwared controls and decided to try the seat mod again.  This time it is much better, I am guessing because of the different foot position.

I think FreeSpirit hit the nail on the head.

The trouble with bucket seats is not everyone's bucket is the same size.  Cheesy

I did a 1 inch lift and didn't like it. Got a half inch lift now with a couple of rubber grommets and it's just right for me, 5'10" 150lbs. Stock controls.

I'm a short guy (5'6"), maybe I'll try a half inch lift.

I didn't like the looks of the lift, so I cut some padding out of the original seat (used an electric carving knife, like you use for ham or turkey), scooped it to fit my a$$, and inserted Saddlemen raw gel that I bought online for about $45 or $50.  The gel is awesome, comfortable, and also cuts down on vibration.  This would be a little difficult to un-do, though, if you screw up the carving.

I've also heard of some people using the 10 dollar gel seat/pads for bicycles (two or three) and making their own gel seat. Just another idea for the comfort.

Ain't that the truth.  I've got a Corbin on my VT1100.  Nice seat, except the butt they used for the model was a little on the smaller side.

I think the seat lift is growing on me.
I'll need to do a longer (50+ miles) ride to really get a feel for it.

I think what I really needed was the middle lower, not the front higher. This'll do for now, but I'll keep looking at mods.

Thanks.

As I was tryin' to say, I didn't really need the front of the seat higher. I needed the middle of the seat lower.

I replaced the foam in my seat with an AirHawk pad.  It sits a bit lower than stock.  Couldn't tell ya how much without measuring.  Been ridin with it that way for a long time.  Works very well for me.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

LOL...I have been sitting on a memory foam pillow in my pc chair for about a month.(for testing)
After about 1-2 weeks...it eventually lost its memory and is pretty uncomfortable now.My regular chair pillow is better.
The rehab dept where I work uses gel seats in the wheelchairs...and the people complain about those also after a week or two.

Any more suggestions on foam, gel or something completely different?

I may wind up going with the Airhawk!
(As I planned on a year ago!! Sometimes just not enough money for everything all at once,it takes awhile  Roll Eyes

Although the things I mentioned didnt work for me,I'm not saying it wouldnt work for others! I think its trial and error type thing.
