Take off the seat,.....grab the rubber snorkel, pull....
That's about it....
I tried it,.. had no effect, so I put it back.

you have no idea how much fun it is removing the snorkel while the air filter box is still in place....
i would not recommend running open, you'll get crap stuck in the carb!

You can always try it,... easy enough to put it back...

Some say removing it gives more airflow,... some say leaving it in creates a smoother airflow to the filter...
I didn't notice any difference either way,.... but I did try it for myself...

With parts on the way, why mess with it?

Get  it running, then make changes, slowly, & monitor performance.

the air filter is very important to engine life so i think im gonna go ahead and get a universal k and n cone type. the flat one will not fit in my 93 for some reason?

I had to swab some epoxy in the airbox on the ledges the filter lands on to make mine fit right. You gotta do it carefully or sand it. too tight in there for that. OHH, I modded the airbox to increase the volume between filter & carb.

Keep in mind that a relatively high resistance filter lets as much air through as a low resistance filter of smaller area.  I'm not really sold on small filters with low resistance.  There's a double layer foam type that I saw on youtube, looks good.

I have a K&N stock replacement, noticed no change in performance.

My car was another story. But I didn't do a drop in there. I did the cone and tossed the air box.
