Getting water out of speedo
08/16/09 at 10:53:14
I regret not removing my electronics when I was coating my tank, as some of the water seems to have gotten into my speedometer. Is there a good way to get it out? What I'm currently trying: I shifted it out of its casing and pulled the rubber ring down so I could try to blow some water at the side, but it still lookes like solid metal. Any suggestions?

I live to please.
Well, SOMETHING is happening in there. The water's mostly all on the ... (what do you call the clear plastic on your speedo?) now. Can't decide if it's actually drying it out in there or if it's just heating up and creating condensation. Either way, I guess it gives me time to work on the carburateur.

Id lay it on its side & get the water all on one side & set it out in the sun.
If its vented on the low side, the heat will expand the air inside it & move the water out the vent.

Left the electronics on when I was sealing my tank. Apparently the repeated cleaning with water coming fairly hard from the hose got it up in there. I'm somewhat fearful of needing to replace the sealant ring, but we'll see what happens after the next rain.

I wonder what would happen if you threw it in a dry lake?

Well, I tried throwing it in Texas, but apparently 100+ degree weather isn't enough.
