white walls?
08/11/09 at 04:57:08

I'm getting real close to needing both a front and rear tire soon, so I was throwing around the idea of getting white walls this time. Just wanted to get some opinions and any suggestions on a good brand to go with for white walls. I was thinking of ordering Dunlops, I think they make tires for our bikes that can be ordered with whites.

now:

edited to add white walls:

this was done with some quality time in Microsoft Paint. I kinda like the look!

I've been thinking the same thing. But I would like a real fat white wall. How much more are the white walls than black?

You should take your rear pegs off.  Grin

I was thinking the same thing duane said. I want to get some real wide whites. If they have some with the entire side wall white out I want to go with that. THe way you have your bike hoooked up you should go for the white walls. Just my thoughts, and I really like the paint job you did on that tank.

i'm not sure how thick i would want to get the strips, most come with a strip wider than that. This is as thick of a line I could get using Paint without shrinking the pic more, although I kinda like it skinny.

I found those links; looks like a dunlop is cheaper than maxxis, but only comes in a 150. Wider might be nice: https://www.yocracing.com/accessory_store/store/yoc_viewItem.asp?idProduct=62 vs. http://www.yocracing.com/store/M6011-140x90-15-WHITE-WALL-CLASSIC-REAR-4504.htm
Although i may not be ordering online.

making your own white walls involves cutting down the side rubber, but I need new wheels anyway. might as well buy them.

btw- the foot pegs will come off when I change the tire, I just dont feel like pulling the rim off to get at the bolts.

For those not needing news tires, check out rangerpaint.com

They handle tire paint at a reasonable price.

I haven't tried it.

Bobbers look better with a single fat W.W. tire on the back and a standard black wall on the front, rather than white walls front and rear IMHO ...

I saw this bike in the JUN 09 issue of MCN:

Hot Rod 1508

It is an Italian custom, built by a Roberto Totti, with a Trumpet engine turned 180 degrees.

I like it!
