Got this at Walmat for $4.95.  No zeros but I just use the next digit. I refuel at 120 milels just before I hit reserve.

I've got that same bike chain on my bicycle. I went with one of the $15 bicycle computers on my motorbike though. It has a trip with a reset, spedometer, & a bunch of stuff I don't use. It works great for keeping track of my 100 miles from tank to tank though.

I'll say it again.  A gadget for me is unnecessary.  2.6 gallon tank of which the .6 is reserve.  50+ mpg times 2 gallons = 100+ miles.  Fill up every time the speedometer reads xxx50 and you don't have to have another gadget.

So, out there in the boondocks you find a gas station (with gas) within a few clicks of xxx50 every time?   Huh

Of course I don't always get to fill up right on the 50.  It's just my trigger to know it's time to fill up.  I do nearly always fill up within + or - 3 miles of xxx50.  I have never run out of gas, and I seldom hit reserve.  If I do, I've still got 25-30 miles to find a "fillin' station" as my dad used to call it.

But after that your 50 would be off  Huh Unless you just like to stop at the gas station all the time. Wish we had a common easy tank swap. I've seen a few on here but all require a good deal of fabrication. Sad

I get gas when I get to the 00 mark.  Sometimes I do have to go a few miles over the 100, but sometimes I stop before I actually get to the 100 mark.  Sometimes it takes a little more than two gallons and sometimes it takes a little less.  Over all, it evens out, it is just a guideline.  Only very rarely do I go to reserve,  but by then I am looking hard for gas. Sad

I think we are making this alot harder than it needs to be.   WinkI have two tanks in my truck and the gauge is off on the rear.  If I ignore that, I can still get into trouble.  A gauge is more of a guide (like 100 miles is for some of us).  I can hear you now, "I can't be out of gas, the gauge still shows a little." Sad

OK, I'm through ranting now! Cheesy

Okay, so my 50 is a 53 this time.  Next time it's likely to be a 50 again. Smiley

I've thought about a larger tank, but on long trips I really welcome the "excuse" to stop every hundred miles or so. Wink
