Some say yes, some say no...  It may depend on brand...
Mostly watch the bolts protruding the fender... troublemakers can be spacered or reversed...
otherwise yes....

No problems with a Pirelli MT66 Route 140/90-15.  By the way, this tire IS a 150...152 mm wide according to the catalog, even though it's marked 140.   This Pirelli is taller, stiffer, wider, and heavier than the OEM IRC.

And I like the handling of the MT66, front & rear, a lot.

Thanks for your help guys.  I didn't want to buy one online to support the local gear shop, and it's the only metzeler they had.

A Dunlop D404 140 90 15 has fit my 1986 but have had troubles with the bolt glazing the tire.  Am looking at mounting the left saddle bag support outside the fender and exchanging OEM bolt with a shallower torx bolt.

I put Dunlop D404 on the front and a Dunlop Rear K555 140/80H-15 on the back. I like it. The suzuki guy said the D404 140/90 would fit on the rear, and Dunlop lists it some place for the LS650 as a replacement, but I wasn't trusting enough! The last time I went to a larger tire on another bike it didn't work.

Good luck

I run a 140/90 Shenko with 11.5 inch Progressive shocks. The dealer used too long of bolts for the saddlebag supports. The ones with the extra washers just grazed the right side of the tire at the widest point. I got the correct length bolts and ground the head down a little for extra clearance. No problems since.
