i would like to run 7/8 bars on mine, they seem more comfortable to me. the hassle of getting new levers, throttle assembly, and master cyl. made me change my decision though. (although i do have all the parts to do it) i have heard you can use the old bars as a spacer. cut the piece you need to fit in the riser, split it down the middle, voila!!!
clam shells over the 7/8 bars. again, i have only heard this would work , never tried it.

I'd get the bar you want in 1" cut them off at grip then jam in 7/8" bar and pin it to the handlebar
