Cylinder Head Torque Values
07/18/09 at 10:52:38

Ok I've read my Clymers, and even have a print out of all the torque values for the Savage, but for the life of me I can't find any info for the six cylinder head bolts in any of the tables.  The table lists 8 and 9 mm bolts, but the ones I'm dealing with are 12 and 14 mm.

Please help me!!!!! Smiley Smiley Smiley

Many Thanks,

Ray

8 and 9 refer to the thread size
so 12 mm hex use the 8 mm torque
and 9 mm torque for 14 mm hex.

Ahh so the top four bolts use the higher torque value and the 12mm that are on the bottom use the lower value.

Many Thanks!!

I was confused by that too but decided to just guess that they meant 9 =14 and 8 = 12. I thought it was just another Clymer's typo until I read a thread similar to this and breathed a sigh of relief that I guessed right on torque even though I got the reason wrong.
