Tricky, not enough info.

Level is fine but how's your oil's age/quality?
Change your oil, couldn't hurt, use 10-40 or 20-50w motorcycle oil.

Is your clutch cable too tight or lose?
The correct setting should be: "lever a bit on the lose side"

Any idea how old are your clutch plates?
Try taking off from 5th gear, if bike jerks and kinda wants
to get going a bit, your pads probably need replacing, not
a particularly tough a job either if you know ur tools.

What about millage?
It could be your timing chain.

Or the stupid coil-wrapped front brake line hitting the headlight. Or one of your exhaust bracket bolts got loose or missing. Or the exhaust flange on the head got loose. I've experienced all three so far.

I used to get the same thing. I took my speedo out and put electrical tape on the 3 screw housings. Stop that annoying rattle. However, I broke one of the housings so I get a slight rattle now that sounds like it comes from around the engine lol. A lot better than before. Oh and put black tape around the edge where the speedo housing sits. Put just enough so that it does not show. It should help. If not then look at your belt.

The problem could also be the front belt pulley nut getting loose. It has a washer with a lockiing tab but sometimes this is ignored in reassembly. I've had a rattle from this and thought it was going to be a major teardown and rebuild. Fortunately I found an honest mechanic who knew his stuff to diagnose it for me. He even put it up on the rack and tightened it and didn't charge me.

Somehow I don't think that's it ,because the bike only has 2600 mi on it and I don't think the front pully was ever worked on.

Theres about Nothing on these things you cant do yourself, one of the big +'s of having this bike. I think its an 8mm to pull the belt/pulley cover. Pop that off & have a look. If it Looks solid, mark the shaft & pulley with a scribe, put it in 1st gear, pull the clutch in & roll it forward & let the clutch out. Look at the marks. Now, roll it backwards & do the same thing. If the line on the shaft moves relative to the line on the pulley, its not tight enough.
Also, if you see any sign of metal powder/shavings on the pulley or on the engine case below the pulley, thats pretty much a dead give away. Even if it passes the Gear/Clutch/Roll test, if there is metal from the pulley/shaft laying there, its not torqued right.
