  Good looking girl.

Thanks, Bill.  And that's after 10 years of marriage and 3 kids!  Still trying to figure out what she's doing with a guy like me.  Skinny, bald, mean and ugly.  Must be the motorcycle and guitars...

Thanks! I'll pass the word.

They're from various members of the Flickr group "Kansas City".  They get together once a month (at least) and practice various techniques and styles.  Skill levels vary from combat correspondents and international photojournalists with Nikon D300s to college kids with $99 point and shoots.  I know you're a photographer- regardless of your region you can network with them and others.  My wife is on flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/baresilver/sets/

Yeah, it was pouring down rain all day in KC and the forecast is through tomorrow morning.  Look forward to seeing some pics from you, FS.

Any idea how they do the "light painting"?  Very cool shots... good-looking couple too!  I love the kiss shot!

Thanks!

They shoot with a very slow shutter speed, we're talking seconds.  They basically leave the shutter open for 10-15 seconds, or manually close it.  No light is put on the subjects, and little colored flashlights/LEDs are used to trace the subjects.  The person tracing can just walk around behind the flashlight, moving rather briskly.

Then once the light-painting is done, they use a flash to illuminate the subject, and then close the shutter.  Tripods are a must! And the subjects have to remain as still as they can.  For the two-phase shot, they use a flash at each pose, then close the shutter.  This may be an oversimplification (I'm not a pro photographer, but my wife says this is basically right.  You can google "light painting".)

The only "action" shot I have isn't of me or my bike, but I was fairly happy it turned out with the subject (my brother) in the center, and didn't have the top of the windshield in it, considering I was using the camera lefthanded going down the highway! Cheesy

Our trusty steeds: my brother's bike in the middle, a Vulcan 900, a nice ride; he was riding the one on the right, some kinda Honda V-4 engine.  His buddy was on the left one, can't remember what it was.
