Grab rails - ideas?
07/16/09 at 23:20:04

I'd like to put a pair of nice passenger grab rails on my S40. I was most impressed with the ones on the Suzuki Burgman Scooter, but the footprint is probably way too big.  Has anyone here added grab rails to a Savage, and/or have any ideas on what I might use?

If the passenger I intended to haul was a "Mall Maggot" I would see about getting a section of escalator handrail & make them something to grab onto they would be "at home" with.

If it's a girl,... tell'em to hold you 'round your waist....
If it's a guy,... call him a wussy.....

We're no help at all,... are we?.... Huh

O.k.,... How about a couple of kitchen drawer pulls, mounted into the chrome fender supports?....

Wow, tough crowd!  Cheesy My main passenger is my daughter.  She's 10. Holding me is hard for her, cuz she's small, and it's uncomfortable for her, her head smashed into my back, can't see anything, etc...

*I* rode passenger on my S40 once, and it wasn't fun.  I rode passenger on a Burgman, and it was pretty nice, comparatively.  The grab rails were implemented really well.

I thought about that, and I may try it.  Was hoping for something a little more industrial strength and size though.  Just searching on "grab rails" in ebay turned up some prospects.  I've also got saddle bags, which complicates it - the rails either have to be really tiny, or come out really far to clear the straps.

They also make something called a buddy belt,.... that would, I think, give you a physical sense of your little one's grip and security....
