Hi again, I use a unit I bought here in Mexico ($75) from a company called
PROTEC, model name "V4 immobilizer", their homepage has little info
and it's mostly there for resellers it seems. http://protec-security.com/

I also know it's widely available all over the world, cause it's hard to find
here since most of their stock is used foe export, but I do not know
under what name or brand it is marketed and sold. Here a few pics:

Thanks for the info, Stimpy, and the pix. I'll look that up. Last night I looked for "presence alarms", and found nothing, but I did find some pretty elaborate systems that have similar functionality. I think something like that, combined with a plain ol' chain lock (or two), would keep even the most clever of thieves at bay. Especially if it was next to a Hayabusa Wink

Hey there, don't know what kind it is, came w/the bike,
great little open exhaust though, but it finally started
to rust and get brown and ugly about a year ago (cheapy
chrome) caused mainly by "californian morning breeze",
west coasters know what im talking about, so i just sanded
it and gave it a few coats with black BBQ spray paint (then
waited a bit and ran the bike to cook the paint) and has held
well since; I spray it a bit now and then (touchup) since it always
seems to hit w/something or other and scratch the paint.
