Handlebars changed - 2 questions

Yesterday I switched my buckhorns over to a nice new set of drag bars. It ended up taking about 2 hours to do because one end of the drag bars had a bit of a lip on it and it took repeated filings to get the left-sided mirror mount to finally slide on. Now it looks like the left-hand controls might rub on the tank a bit when the bars turn all the way to the left. I know I could just get some higher risers, but I really like where the bar is right now. Are there any other controls that I could put on that would have a smaller profile? And, the clutch cable has the metal elbow where it connects to the controls and now that's pointing kind of up and away from the bike. So when I engage the clutch, the cable pulls much harder than it did, and it looks like its rubbing on the metal where it enters the lever. Do I need to get a whole new cable, or is there a way to straighten that elbow without damaging the cable?
THANKS!
