ok, let me see if I got this right. I put the red jumper cable on the battery cable which is on the right side where the tool case is. then i connect the black battery cable to the ground black motor fin on the motorcycle. then I plug in the batter charger. is that right? I don't want to blow up the house.

I don't think you'll get a very good ground on the cooling fins if they are black. Pretty much anything that is metal will work. Any exposed bolts or nuts. The main ground that goes to the battery is right under the shift lever on the right side. Even the muffler would work. I've never had anything bad happen from hooking it right to the neg side of the battery. It is low and slow voltage so it shouldn't harm anything.

Limit the battery charging rate to about 2 amps or less for these little batteries. Recharging a battery too fast shortens its life.

If you install a permanent trickle charger connection like the one in the Battery Tender photo, you might run the wires out the left side away from the hot muffler...or be sure to keep the charger's cord away from the hot parts on the right.

I think that it might be time to replace my 3 yo battery. It might have a bad cell. I charged it overnight at 4amps, put it back, started the bike okay. Bike died on me and battery bad again.

I heard that if you drain it completely, the battery could be no good....

I guess, I will just have to stop by Walmart to get a new battery for my bike.

UPDATE: Miracle.... the bike started this PM... will keep the new battery just in case.... it was around $45.... thanks for the many responses.... very realiable people here Cheesy
